Moose Ranch
August 2007

Before Anuska left to return to the US, we took a trip together to Dalslands Moose Ranch in Sweden. I went with them, but did not get to run around. I was either in the car or on a leash because they did not allow any pets near the moose. That is ok, because they looked very very big from a distance and I was too scared to see them up close!

They not only had full grown moose, but also some very young ones kept in a separate nursery area. Anuska liked that part and fed them some grass through the cage openings. Later they were able to see them drink milk from some baby bottles.

Dad wasn't scared like me, and got up really close to the monsters and even petted their antlers.

One of the trainers there told mom and dad something very interesting about the moose. He said that occassionally they give them a different type of treat which the moose couldn't get in the wild. .. Bananas ! But onlu halves with the banana peel still attached. They said it was to help their digestion system.

Before we left the ranch, Mom got some snacks from the cafe there. No, it wasn't made from moose meat, but some big waffles with strawberry sauce topping. I even got a bite or two as a reward for not being able to run around.
